The news page is filling up so to save that one from being cluttered the older stories will be archived here.

These are your finalists!

These are your champions!

Fiction and non-fiction!

As the title quite clearly states this little update is to tell you about two things, one that has to do with the fictional back story of the WipEout HD cup (brought to you by challenger#001) and the other is to tell you about the new set of interviews we have today!

But rather than tell you all about it here I’ll let you discover for yourselves what it’s all about by clicking those links.

Have a nice day!

Interviews!

As I’m sure you would all agree it is very interesting to hear what the favourites in this competition have to say about how it’s going and who they think will win. With that in mind we have added a new section called interviews where we will host a series of interviews with some of the biggest names in WipEout!

This week we start off with Dark_Phantom_89 and Jasmin-Jade, both of whom are well known in the community. So I strongly suggest you move over to the interview section and take a look into the minds of some of the best pilots.

Race day!

Yes indeed alot of races have been played in the last week and most of the races in the first round have now been played. We have a few stragglers but this was to be expected.

Now with the first round almost over and even some of the 2nd and 3rd round races having already been played I sat down with yedlar 2097, Woopzilla and Javariko and had a little talk about the cup:

yeldar2097: I think the cup is goin well
Oryx_crake: are you having fun in the tournament, and who do you think will win?
yeldar2097: I’m kinda having fun, it’s difficult to enjoy racing with the amount of input lag I’ve been suffering with
yeldar2097: Hm…who do I think will win….hmmmmm
yeldar2097: ummm
Woopzilla: I’ve no idea who will win, but it will surely be a top player… there is ”some” luck involved but there’s so many stages/rounds that it has to be a top player in the end.
yeldar2097: umm
Woopzilla: Less so if people are racing weapons off races to be honest
yeldar2097: I vote Dark Phantom 89(DP)
Woopzilla: less luck involved I mean
Oryx_crake: ah DP is a good call actually
yeldar2097: No pressure DP
Oryx_crake: He is getting better
yeldar2097: He’s pretty much the best at weapons on
yeldar2097: Current best at weapons off in my opinion
yeldar2097: Endurance included
yeldar2097: DP R winR
Oryx_crake: dutty p
Woopzilla: :3
Javariko: Im not sure if Yeldar is back to 100% yet but yeldar has a decent chance of winning it
Javariko: By the way that press forward track is superb
yeldar2097: lol, yeldar is at about 65%
yeldar2097: And even at 100% everyone’s pretty much equal nowadays anyway
yeldar2097: It’s wide open
yeldar2097: Kinda
Oryx_crake: thanks guys

So there you have it folks some of the favourites pick Dark phantom 89 to win. Well whatever happens we will be watching!

Clarifications.

Well hello there all of you crazy pilots!

Now as you all should be well aware the deadline for playing your round 1 match has passed. However we are still working furiously to make sure that as many people as possible get to play their matches. So again if you yourself know that you have yet to play your match but haven’t been in contact with your opponent or raptor, here is what we want you to do:

1. Check your PSN messages and respond to them.

2. Get in contact with your raptor to make sure you know what happens next.

3. Play your match or drop out, but make sure you report your choice and/or your match records to your raptor.

Now on to another issue.

As many of you know we have had some issues with a newly discovered glitch that has been exploited by people in setting world records in time trials and speed laps. This is obviously deplorable and has made some people suspicious towards other players but as far as the cup is concerned: a few words from our commander in chief Kanar:

Tbh I’m a bit fed up wth this stuff as it’s lots of noise for nothing (at least for rapier & phantom pilots). But as a result, slow-train decided to drop out, flaflasat is about to drop out too lol, chaos80 has moved on so I see no point in banning Djmz, cos’ I don’t have any replacement. So I’m sorry but it’s still wait & see on that matter, I don’t even know if djmz is still up for the cup anyway. GAH.

Alas things haven’t been as smooth as we might have hoped but these things happen so we dust ourselves off and move on.

Keep on racing my fellow speedfreaks and let’s once and for all see who is the freakiest and speediest of us all!

Over the horizon…

So it is officially 2011, I dont know what you say but I say good riddance! I would also like to take this opportunity to beg your forgivness for being slow to update the news, and also thank all of the raptors for the updates on the challonge boards!

So what has been happening? Well we have had quite a few matches played (my own for one, which I lost) and we are speedily heading for the second round of the tournament wherein some truly big names will clash. This will truly be a sight to see, so please all of you second round pilots. If you can make a recording of your match for us as this will be truly epic.

Alas there have been a few minor setbacks too, most of which have been caused by pilots going missing and thus putting their opponents as well as the raptors in the awkward position of missing opponents. As this is the case we would like to hereby ask any pilot out there who knows s/he hasn’t answered their messages to please do so A.S.A.P because there is nothing we’d like more than to have everyone play their matches.

In the case that these messages are not answered there are of course spots left for a little while for anyone else who is interested in taking a missing pilot’s place. So if you have yet to join the party and are interested then please register your interest on the Wipeoutzone forums or the Wiepoutarena forums, it will take all of a second and then you’ll get to be a part of the biggest thing since sliced bread.

Happy new year to you all!

Safe flying.

A very scary christmas.

Good day one and all, we are back from the christmas break, it was a good one, but as the title says a scary one as well… at least for me. the weather here has been getting steadily snowier… but you dont need to know that.

What you do need to know is that a few more matches have been played! So move over to the boards and check out the scores, also our first video replay is out. Aiirwolf has kindly made his match with Miss-78 available for viewing and it’s a fun match! You will find the link attatched to their match on the kestrel board.

What else is there to say? Things are moving ahead and we hope that you are all enjoying yourselves.

Good day to you all.

Oh Merry Christmas To You All…

The boards are updated, the presents bought and the weather is colder than hell on the day I won my first online multiplayer race.

Now! We have finally reached the most anticipated holiday of the year and as such many people, including me, will be very busy with things other than WipEout.

So I will most likely not make any major updates over the holidays but that shouldn’t stop you all from enjoying your break so…

Merry Christmas to you all, and see you later!

A word from our sponsor.

Now I know he said he wouldn’t hold a speech but some of the things he said in the following sentances were inspirational and by chance exactly what I was looking for.

So here is a message from the grand instigator of this tournament:

”So, the cup is officially starting today . We already got 6 match results! that’s awesome tbh, proof of your interest guys.

So now i wish you all a great time on the wipeout tracks, for a last time let’s celebrate the glory of this game. May the force be with you guys, and let’s find out who’s The One.”

I for one will take these words to heart and I hope to see all of you out there on the tracks very soon.

/Oryx_crake 21:st of december 2010

And so it begins…

Yes we have arrived at the official starting date of this, the greatest of wipeout tournaments, the world championship if you will.

The date has just changed and it is now the 20:th.

The moment of truth is here for so many of us, and all though a few matches have already been played ahead of time this is the moment we have all been wating for folks!

We wish you all the best of luck and godspeed…

Let the games BEGIN!

/Oryx_crake 20:th of december 2010

The first match

Yes it’s official the first match has been played between Mic-dk and Wellington86 in the Buzzard cloud.

Now, they were jumping the gun a bit but we suspect that many of the pilots are anxious to get started!

However Mic’s and Wellington’s match was just a teaser, we are sad to see one of them go before the official starting date is here but we expect more of this raw excitement to be coming in the next week, so keep your eyes peeled because we will.

Some of these matches will also have videos which will be embedded in the challonge boards to make it easy for you to watch your faveourite pilots clash.

see you soon!
